Update on cutting the Green and common land August 2026

It is the intention to cut the Green and other common land as soon as possible, but we do not want to increase fire risk by leaving a lot of dry grass on the surface. We are hoping to hire a flail mower with a collector, but we need to check that our contractor will be willing and able to use this equipment and that it is still available for hire.

At present, we have been unable to contact our normal contractor, probably because he is out harvesting crops.

We also need to be able to dispose of the cuttings, otherwise the cuttings left on the land encourage unwelcome growth of nettles, thistles, docks, cow parsley and rank grasses.
