Village Footpath Work

An organisation called Trust Conservation Volunteers (TCV) will be carrying out work on the footpath through the village today (Tuesday), Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday this week. The aim is to restore the footpath to its original width, to make it easier to walk on and use a pushchair or wheelchair. TCV will do as much of the path as they can manage in the 4 days and the Parish Council are investigating ways to cover any remaining work required. The TCV work is being funded by a grant from the former Ryedale District Council.

Council Tax Bill – Additional Information

All properties in the village should now have received a Council Tax bill for financial year 2023/2024.

You may have noticed that the Flaxton Parish Council element of the Council Tax bill, known as the Parish Precept, has increased by 35% since the previous year, a higher percentage increase than other elements of the bill, such as policing.

The increase follows a 28% decrease in the precept in the prior 2022/23 year to adjust for an administrative error made in the 2021/22 precept.

The latest increase averages £6.50 per property (depending on Council Tax Band) following an average £7.30 decrease in the previous year.

The real increase in funding or ‘new money’ to the council is 10% as explained in the attached note Precept Explanation
