Environment Group – Sponsor a Barn Owl Nesting Box

At the talk on barn owls last night the opportunity to sponsor a barn owl nest box was mentioned.  The sponsorship costs £10 and the sponsor receives updates on what species is using the box (if any) and the outcome of the nesting attempt. For anyone interested in this idea, either for themselves or as a present for someone else, the leaflet gives full details.

The Tees based group and their associates manage some nesting boxes in and around the Ryedale Area including the Howardian Hills.

Flaxton Traffic Speed Survey Results

In April 2025, as a result of several complaints about speeding, North Yorkshire Council (NYC) recorded traffic flow and vehicle speeds at The Kell for a week.

After a few frustrating months trying to obtain the results and NYC’s conclusions from the exercise, we were finally provided with eighteen data sets and their observations in the last couple of weeks.

We have produced a brief report of the findings in a presentation pack along with the actions arising from a discussion at the Parish Council Meeting on 16th October 2025.

If you have anything to add to the proposed actions or require more information please speak to a member of the council or get in touch via our Contact Page.
