During and after the Second World War North Yorkshire became a temporary home for German and Italian Prisoners of War.
Flaxton played a part in providing a home and place of work for a few of them.

Following on from the comments on the WhatsApp group, the following link has been sent to the parish council today. The map makes it clearer which bit of Scotchman Lane will be affected.
The session advertised for Wednesday 22nd May will now be on Wednesday 29th May 2pm – 4pm. This is because the club have entered a team in a local league and their first match is on Wednesday 22nd!
