Notification of Temporary Traffic Restriction – The Village, Haxby, 20th July to 23rd July 2026

CITY OF YORK COUNCIL: HAXBY (THE VILLAGE) – TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION

City of York Council, in exercise of powers under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), hereby gives notice that vehicles are prohibited from proceeding and waiting in that length of The Village, Haxby between its junctions with Westfield Lane and Westfield Road(closed road), during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 20 July 2026 and ending at 2349hrs on Thursday, 23 July 2026 (works period) or when the works have been completed, whichever is earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibition. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, A1237, Wigginton Road, Mill Lane, Ascot Road, Windsor Drive. Access for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

This Notice does not prohibit works or emergency access within the closed road nor does it prohibit access to premises provided such access is not prevented by the on-going works.

During the times and days when the restrictions imposed by this Notice are being implemented, any Order made pursuant to the Act or having effect as if so made is suspended insofar as it effects vehicles proceeding, parking or waiting in the closed road during the period when the closed road is, for the time being, subject to physical closure such period being within the works period.
