Scotchman Lane Update
Please see the following regarding upcoming maintenance and the longer term plan for Scotchman Lane:
- Marked out in yellow paint are the Spray Injection Patching extents that Highways are proposing to carry out.
- This is weather dependant but currently planned to start on Tuesday 17th September for 3 days under a daytime road closure. On the Wednesday morning they are going to another site first but will be back in Scotchman Lane in the afternoon. The extents of the patching is from the golf club/hotel entrance up to Flaxton village 30mph limit.
- Spray Injection Patching was successfully carried out last year along this road, but the type of Spray Injection Patching has evolved this year and is believed to have been enhanced. They do the same as what they did last year but also include surface dressing over larger areas to seal the patch and adjacent cracking. They also spray a bitumen product over the surface dressing to lock in the aggregate.
- There will be a road closure in place from about 08:00 to about 16:00 each day while work is in progress. The hard closure point will be at the hotel/golf club access to allow access via the A64 to the hotel/golf club. They will try and manage access to the log cabins on site. Everyone else that requires access to Flaxton village will have to come in from the Flaxton end. The diversion route is along the A64 to Strensall and then back to Flaxton via York Lane.
- The aim of this work is to try and hold the road together until such time as there is capital funding to carry out wholesale resurfacing works. There doesn’t look like any realistic prospect of funding being agreed to carry out resurfacing works in the next two years for this road.
- Some of the road markings will get refreshed after the patching works are completed.
