A64 repairs

Dear Councillor

We’re getting in touch to let you know about repairs we’re carrying out to areas of defective carriageway on the A64 between Sand Hutton and Whitwell on the Hill. We’re also renewing worn out road markings on this road and at junctions along this route.

For the safety of motorists and the workforce, there will be full overnight closures on the A64 from the Sand Hutton junction up to Sandy Lane for two weekends:

•         20 and 21 September 2025

•         27 and 28 September 2025

Both sets of closures will be between 10pm and 6am the following morning.

We will try to keep noise and disruption to a minimum but we apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works.

Diversions

Diversions will be fully signed.

Motorists travelling eastbound from York will be diverted off the A64 at Hopgrove Roundabout on to the A1237 and then on to the A19 northbound. They will then be directed to continue northbound to Thirsk, before taking the A170 east to Pickering and then the A169 south to rejoin the A64 near Malton. Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion in reverse.

Full access will be maintained for local traffic throughout the closures, and we will be in direct contact with residents and businesses affected by the closures to confirm arrangements.

The diversion route has been agreed with the local authority. More details, and diversion maps, will be shared at https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/yorkshire-and-north-east/yorkshire-and-north-east-maintenance-schemes/

If you would like to get in touch with us, please feel free to contact Project Manager Naveed Ahmad (cc’d) or myself on the details below. You can also call 0300 123 5000 or email us at

New Flaxton Community Hall Presentation/4th September

A big thank you to the seventy five plus (and still counting) villagers and friends who attended last night’s meeting to discuss the proposals for a New Community Hall.

Thank you for completing your feedback forms which we will work through in the next few days.

For those who couldn’t make the meeting (and those that did) we have loaded the presentation slides and plans to the Village Website located at:

Flaxton Community Hall Materials

We would be grateful if you could complete a feedback form when you have studied the plans.

For those who took a a feedback away as homework could you please return the form to Ian Craven, Simon Massey or Nigel Cox who are collating and analysing the feedback.

Many thanks in anticipation.
