New History Available!
We Need Your Help!
When we launched the Flaxton Community Website nearly a year ago (it feels like much longer!) we aimed to capture a history of the village and its people.
We are indebted to the many villagers and their relatives who have contributed a wealth of material, some old and some more contemporary, that is now dotted around the Gallery Pages.
We are pleased to publish some ‘new’ history dating back to before the First World War through to the early 90’s when cows still grazed The Green!
- The Fallen – Biographies of the Servicemen whose names appear on the First World War Memorial inside the Lych Gate at Flaxton Church provided by Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, Beryl Cartmell’s daughter.
- Village life in the 30’s and before through to the 50’s provided by Beryl Cartmell.
- Pictures and News Articles dating from 1911 through to the 90’s provided by Marion Webster split across two pages, Gallery Page 1, Gallery Page 2.
If you have any materials which you believe may be of interest to the community please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
