NYCC Police Message Regarding Bogus Callers

North Yorkshire Police have received a number of reports over the past 5 days from Harrogate residents claiming they have been called by someone claiming to be DC Mason Greenwood, DCI Mason Mould or similar stating they have their nephew/grandson in custody with their bank cards. Fortunately residents have realised this is a scam call and have reported this matter to the police but I fear there are many who may have given over their bank details to this fraudster. Beware of these types of calls and if you are unsure as to who you are speaking to, terminate the call and dial 101 from another phone (as often the scammers will keep the line open and you may think you have called the police when in fact you are still speaking to the scammers) to check with the police. Remember the Police will NEVER ask for your bank details over the phone
